Sunday we moved the non-furniture stuff into M-‘s apartment.\u00a0\u00a0 A couple of trips up and down the stairs, and we were all glad someone else would be humping the bed, chairs, and big round table up there.<\/p>\n

We left M- there about 5:30 in the evening, with instructions to call if he had any problems.\u00a0\u00a0 He didn’t call.\u00a0\u00a0 In fact, from the look on his face as we left, he was just waiting for us to get out the door so he could get to the apartment pool.\u00a0\u00a0 Next morning we were here to receive the movers; I called M- when they left, so he would expect them in about an hour. \u00a0 He sounded quite chipper. \u00a0 R- drove down to pay the movers while I worked up here.<\/p>\n
Tuesday, the internet guy was supposed to come, but didn’t–I had gone down to install the router after the internet guy left, and in the meantime picked up some of the usual things you find you’ve forgotten in any move. \u00a0 Today, Wednesday, the internet guy has been and gone, and I’m about to go down and install the router. \u00a0 M- hasn’t been online yet, and doesn’t sound (over the phone) like he really knows what he’s doing with that, so I may have to call the internet provider myself.<\/p>\n
M- seems very happy in his apartment so far, though he admitted yesterday that he’s not yet used to it and hasn’t slept straight through. \u00a0 While we waited, I read and he worked on reviewing schoolwork from last semester.\u00a0\u00a0 Although he was disappointed the installer didn’t come (we both were!)\u00a0 all the work we’ve done on handling surprises, disappointments, and changes in plans really paid off–he was just disappointed, no fuss or anything.<\/p>\n
So far, the move has gone very well and M- seems to be handling things pretty well. \u00a0\u00a0 Incredibly well considering what we started with 26 years ago. \u00a0 Even 10 years ago. \u00a0 So I have high hopes that this will continue to go reasonably smoothly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
